Dragan Bogdanovski (1929 – 1998) 

Is known in recent Macedonian history for the fact that through his activity outside of Macedonia he promoted, maintained and advocated the idea of ​​a united and independent Macedonian state with the Macedonian nation as its bearer. He is the founder of the Movement for the Liberation and Unification of Macedonia (DOOM), which in the 1970s and 1980s played a major role in the national awareness of Macedonians in the diaspora, but also in the former SR Macedonia itself, especially through its printed organ, the magazine " Macedonian Nation" and other printed materials. In 1990, he also founded the party VMRO DPMNE and was declared its honorary chairman.

Due to his activity, Dragan Bogdanovski came under attack from the Yugoslav, Greek and Bulgarian state security services, especially the Yugoslav one, which kidnapped him in Paris in June 1977, after which he was secretly transferred to Yugoslavia, where he was sentenced to 13 years. prison, of which he served 11 in the infamous Idrizovo prison.
